I realize this is a horrible time of year to start this, but is anybody interested in doing a body challenge? Not that I have a great prize to offer to the “biggest loser/gainer”, all I can offer is bragging rights on the forum.
I’m thinking of doing inches rather than pounds. This would consists of those competing taking a before and after picture, and their measurements (Chest, Waist, Hips).
Any takers?

This is not posted in the chic-section, so, anyone can participate. Let me know soon, and I will try to organize something.

Bako, count me in. I'd love to do this. Just let me know when we are starting. I have a feeling I'm the only one who needs to really need lose weight (ever wonder why you only see a head shot of me). :(

Can't wait to get started!

As far as a prize goes, self esteem is the best prize out there and only I can give that to myself. It can't come from anyone else.

I'm in I need to lose like 15 pounds anyways .........since no fellas want to step up !! I have been eating a unhealthy diet for like the past year so...I am in !!

Okay, did my measurements and scaled today. I am starting already! Whats the time frame Bako? 12 weeks sounds good..or until Jan 1st.???? Anyways! I am starting! :D

I guess no time like the present, right? I will get my measurements tonight and I haven't weighed myself in about a year. Damn, gotta find a scale. I think depressions gonna kick in when I'm done. :(

I am 6'1 and I am at 189lbs. 41 inch chest, 34 inch waist and 42 inch hips ........I will cut down to 170 pretty easy, especially in that amount of time and hopefully get a lil more toned. Good luck ladies !!

This sucks - of course I'm not in. I start finals on Monday - that means 16-18 hour days in the library with tons of coffee and energy drinks (No Fear energy drink! - ha, thats for you Urijah - well that and I get them for free).
That also means no time down at UF - so I can't get out my frustration by hitting things. So I don't think I'm in - even though I've turned into a fat-bitch - this semester has been difficult to say the least.

Well I weighed in at 149...so lets just round up to 150 pounds!!Sheesh...10 of those pounds are deffinately unnecessary.
I am 5'9" My areas that I want to lose inches are: waist 32",navel 30.5 " hips 38" and thigh 22.25"...ugh
I want to gain inches on my Biceps- 13", chest-36" ,quads-19" and Calf- 14".
I enjoyed oatmeal for breakfat baby! mmm yup looking forward to this. :mad: that is actually a determined face...not a mad one....or maybe the face after I eat all that fibre... could be as bad as when you guys eat all those jalapenos...eek.....haha :D

I'm buying my friends weight bench/leg press thing tomorrow. I hope to actually gain some inches in this competition (muscle tone)



Dumb question: Where do you measure your waist? Belly button or closer to the hip bones?

Damn I don't even have a scale. To me its not about my weight, just the way I feel about myself. I may need to get a scale though. I am right around 120 though. I just want to get toned up through this competition. But I am drinking beer now so I think I'll start tomorrow :)

ha ha cuz I'm not too sure. Everytime I work I drink so depends on what my schedule is like. I really jsut need an accountablilty partner to make sure I am doing something physical daily. Lifting 12 fl oz cans to my face does not count!!!

Guy I went hunting with broke his collar bone one year and he had it in a sling. I looked at him holding a beer with the arm in the sling he shrugged and said "ummmm counter balance." I about pissed myself laughing

I had my last beer last night...rip...for 12 weeks anyways! I luv beer.....I can't say I luv Bud lite...never tried it...stronger flavoured beer I think is more my style!

But beer and chips.....mmmmmmmmmmm.....I'm gonna miss you guys..

You girls can't quit...we haven't even started. Get your measuring tape out, and yah, the scale doesn't really matter!
I think I will be limiting my computer time...! And saying goodbye to everything sugar.
Lisa, that's why I do both measurements...one at my navel and one at my luv handles (or the widest part above the hips) otherwise its just too hard to be specific. And we can track the shrinkage better! Good for you getting some weights at home!

I think Bako said chest, waist, and hips. Jess or Bako will have to help you with where to measure. They are probaby better at it.

Remember, there is no such thing as a stupid question, so ask away.

sadly i am trying to gain weight instead of losing it. I would like to wrestle at 135, walk around at 140, considering my height i should easily be 145 or 150, so i guess im out of the game haha.

and my biceps are only 14 inches! i dont lift many weights, im more of an old school conditioning freak. many many situps, crunches, bicycles, pushups galore

Tap- The challenge is to become healthier, gains or loses. That is why I will probably opt for inches. I tend to gain weight when I lift, but while becoming leaner...hope that makes sense.

what is the general rule of thumb for measuring chest, hips, and waist
i know chest is like from armpit to opposite

here's a link for measuring...REMEMBER YOU CAN DO EITHER WEIGHT OR MEASUREMENTS.
Tap- I think you should also include a shoulder measurement and bicep measurements, beased on your goals.

Lisa, for your goals I would suggest doing measurements. You look pretty lean, so you would probably see a gain in size (very small) more noticeable in appearance...then on the scale. I can't see that you would "bulk-up", so don't be afraid to lift hard.
