Sushi-shit....! MMANews recently moved Norifumi 2 places ahead of Urijah on their Best Pound for Pound Ranking. Checking out their MMA discussion board chatter one would think Yamamoto would OWN Urijah should they ever meet.
We know Yamamoto is lightening fast, but IMHO Japan's national hero is overrated. 17-0 against mostly questionable opponents (Other than Jeff Curran, who gave him a tough 3 rounds). Japan's referees stopping fights quicker than anything we're used to seeing in UFC/WEC sanctioned bouts. It's also been nearly two years since his last fight.
In the past Urijah has expressed interest in fighting Yamamoto. Urijah suggested one of his posse might score the opportunity.
Hopefully it would be our 'California Kid' to settle things against Japan's beloved 'Kid'.
What a beautiful win THAT that would be.

I agree. I'd love to see Urijah shut up the non-believers! It would be a good fight. And Urijah would show him who the real "Kid" is.

That is exactly how I feel - he fights NOBODY. Honestly I think Joseph Benavidez would have taken him had Kid not dropped out of the fight days before it was supposed to happen (once he realized Joseph was better than he thought)
It is Kid's MO - he fights NOBODY. They find no-names from small organizations around the world so they can protect their hero.

That's one of the many reasons why I think that fight will never happen. I hope I'm wrong!

The scoring system they use for those rankings is totally Fubared !! Agreed Kid fights CANS !! Period !! I think Benavidez would own Yamamoto. Still all in all a Faber/Yamamoto fight would be a BIG BIG DEAL !! We all know how that will tuen out, but I would attend FO SHO !! ( Even if it goes down in Japan)

That fight will never happen unless Faber decides to go to K-1 which really makes no since. Faber told me a while ago that He got a call to fight Kid Yamamoto but he spoke to Dana about it and that went out the window immediately. And there is no reason to bring kid to the WEC cos he is relatively unknown here in the states except to hardcoore fans.

Really? Given even the slightest chance, seems crazy not too. Work the 'California Kid' vs. 'Kid' angle. Hyping a fight against Yamamoto, 'Japans National Treasure' BIG TIME. Putting to rest crap of how Yamamoto would destroy Urijah. Damn straight. I'd be booking a flight with JB to Japan or ANYWHERE to see Urijah settle the sh*t.
If the facts were known it's Yamamoto's camp running scared. Loss of prestige can be fatal there.
