I see where you can cross off two of these maybe three in one weekend. Every year, being the brilliant business man that he is, Dana schedules a UFC event in Columbus Ohio every year. This will be year three. So you can attend the expo and meet him easily, Attend the Fight and I know what hotels the fighters stay at when they are there (there is three main ones), so Meeting Urijah wont be a a problem, and If Randy is fighting or someone from his camp, he is usually there with a booth at the expo promoting Extreme Couture so there you go. I go every year. Wrap up though because it usually is snowing !!

Lisa ..just think of what do you want to do or try...or go or see...or what you'd like to improve...Hey..you are working on your social skills...being a Bud girl (woman) aint easy for a shy gal! You are already conquering a major goal!!

Thanks Jess! I need to get off my butt and do more. Hiking is something I need to start doing. I've been talking about but just haven't had the time. There are so many options here in WA. Cody goes all the time, but not me. I need to work less and play more. :D Maybe, if you're ever down here again, we can go hiking together at Mt. Rainier.

Also, one thing I forgot to add was doing the 3-day cancer walk with my sister next October. She did it this year and I told her I would do it next year with her.

Definitely need to give us more background Tobias. How long have you been training in Muay Thai? Amature fights? Pro fights? What got you started?

I got involved at martial arts the age of 6 after getting beat up in a fight. My dad was not having that being that he grew up doing Tang Soo Do. He couldn't find a dojo around here that offered it so I ended up in a TKD class for a few years. By the time I was 8 i was a bully:D and everybody paid the piper. I also discovered Muay Thai at that age from a movie. KICKBOXER! Although Van Damme was not doing muay thai in the movie, the allure and Thailand and Muay Thai had taken deep root in me. I gave up training martial arts for a bit to pursue my interest in BBoyin(breakdancing) for a number of years. In 2002 I started training in muay thai with my father-in-law and uncle-in-law. Both had been fighters in Thailand and Laos back before the Vietnam war. So my first real muay thai training came from them. They told me to go to Thailand to train but my cash was not right at the time so that was out of the question. We worked on basics such as round kicks, knees, and elbows. We also did clinch work which is much different from MMA clinching. I got into MMA back in 2003 after watching Wanderlei Silva KO Kazushi Sakuraba in the Pride middle weight (205 div) grand prix. I had a friend training in BJJ at an old gym called Sacramento BJJ. He always told me to come train with him but I passed for a few years till I saw that brutal KO. The next day I was training BJJ under an asshole (Carlos Garcia) and a great guy name Richard Fabri from Brasil. I was training there for a good while and took my one and only MMA back on June 12, 2004. I lost and had my jaw broken also. Yes it sucked big time not being able to eat. Blended baked beans, soups and shakes were my food of choice:):p After my jaw healed I got back on the horse and started training again but there really wasn't any good gyms around and I didnt have the time, patience, or cash to drive to a kickboxing gym for my standup then to Cassio Werneck BJJ school for my ground game. So I went back to training with my inlaws and worked more muay thai. I began to download matches from Thailand on a regular basis and also make contacts with who foreigners who live and train there. In 2006 I made my first trip to Thailand to visit my wifes family and do whatever training I could. I didn't do much cos I was just in awe of the beauty of Bangkok during the tourist thing. My second time in Thailand was back in March of 2007. I went just to train. My coach at the camp told that he could not get me a fight because I would not be prepared so my dream was crushed. A few months after I returned from Thailand, I got word from some bay area friends that Master Thonglor Armetsena had moved to the US and was teaching classes at kickboxing school here in town. I told Faber that if he want to employ a real muay thai coach who has a record of training champions in Thailand that he should contact him. A few weeks later he was Fabers muay thai coach. I also started training with Master Thong. He really improved my standup in a short amount of time. As of late, I have not been training due to college. Physics, calculus, and my family take up most of my time. I'll be back the gym in Dec though and looking forward to meeting all those who have read this.

Thanks for sharing. It's great hearing how people get started in martial arts. Thailand must have been beautiful. My mother is from Korea, but I have never been. One of these days I hope to make it there. I was luckily enough to send my son there with my sister a few years ago. He got to meet the Korean National TKD champ while he was there. It was an experience he'll never forget.

PS: Kickboxer and Bloodsport, 2 of Van Dammes best movies :)

If you go to Thailand, it will not be just one time, you will return. The training there is not like here. You learn so much more and the weather is crazy hot so you sweat constantly. Going for a vacation is good cos everything is cheap. Going for muay thai training is the best because you get authentic training in the birthday of the most devastating stand up art. Going to Thailand will change your life and you may not want to return come. Check this site out, http://fightpassport.com/ This guy is in Thailand for 10 months training and documenting many different camps. Very informative,

Hmmm lets seee....

Get at least into the 400hp range with my current car
Build a professional drift car
Drift Professionally
Own a 93-98 Supra and get over 1,000 hp out of it
Drag in the quater mile under 10 seconds at least once
Restore my step dads 67 stang from ground up
Buy a house
Get married and have 2 kids
Live a long happy life

Not much, could'nt think of everything. So many more things to do but life is so short!

And yea I really love cars.

tobias

Is that near Isaan ? Back in the day I was paying like $60 a month to train. I am sure it is alot more expensive now but I am guessing probley only double. Still WAY worth it no matter what the cost.!! I could not even do the morning run at daylight now !! I am way to old for that, but still wish I could train that hard. I just roll now and do an hour of MT pads several times a week just to try to keep the gut off !! LOL

I always wanted to fight at the songkran festival but never was good enough !! HA

I did have three fights though and actually won 1 of them !!

You better watch it I've got skills, that in itself is a big deal for me. I too have had my jaw wired shut but did not lose but 10 pounds, drank lots of whey protein, and milk and chicken, steak blended together !! YUMMMMMMAfter they unwired my jaw it took me over a week to be able to eat right again !!

tobias

I do mean Isaan. I did not have to pay anything to train because my wife's uncle is the owner.:p I did make a 8000 baht or 200 USD donation. Watching the young farm boys train and try to make their dreams a reality was an eye opener for me. There is no Boys&Girls club in Thailand but there are 1000's of muay thai camps to assist a young Thai/Isaan child out of poverty.
