View Full Version : Alright everyone!!!!
Well everyone, what can I say? We all sat through a devastating night. We all saw our champ lose his belt and I say lose his belt because he didn't get beat out of his belt but yes no questions asked, Urijah ended up in a horrible position tonight and yes was stripped...
No one saw this night coming and I know all of us (Lisa, Elderhan, JBNTX, AMA,Bako, SMIRNOFF, JBSWINZ, Striker1, Jessica, Playboy, TapouT, rattle, forrest, and Felix) This is our family. Yeah our fighter lost, but really, did he lose? Or did he get caught? Honestly, can Mike Brown say he is a better fighter than Urijah Faber? I would be very surprised to hear Mike say that he out fought Urijah Faber. You can not deny that Mike won his fight against Urijah but lets be honest, did Mike really outfight Urijah? Yes Urijah got caught! Yes Urijah was stripped of the belt! Yes Mike did basically handle Urijah after that hit, but you still have to question, was that a planned hit or was it just one of those perfect punches no one expects?
Either way Mike has brought himself into the wrong family of Faber fans and we will back URIJAH NO MATTER WHAT... So just pray next championship fight you get is not against the true champ because if it is I doubt that another punch punch in that manner will land. Urijah is the true belt holder so enjoy while it lasts! Urijah will get his belt back and all of us on this board will back him until he does. Urijah will beat Mike Brown, or whoever has the belt at that time.

Brown didn't look too good either when he was exiting the cage. Any word on what happened? Delay of any possible rematch if it's serious!!!!!

Another fantastik post from a true faber fan...luv it Seth. You nailed my thoughts!
And I can't wait to one day meet the champ himself; but also all of the "family" as you called us! You guys are all a great bunch of fans/friends!

Ditto Seth! I think you definitely spoke for everyone. Urijah said it best last night, he made a mistake and Mike capitalized on it. Coming around with a spin move of any kind is always iffy. It's a blind move. What I love about Urijah was his ability to lose graciously. He showed what a TRUE champion he is. He was humble in his defeat but ready to move forward. I cannot wait for the rematch!
I'm sure everyone has seen the first fight between GSP and Serra... No one saw that coming and that scenario is identical to last nights. Now wait for the rematch.

I thought the same thing last night about Serra and GSP. GSP owned Serra in the rematch and Urijah will do the same to Mike.

I was thinking the same thing. GSP is way better then Sarra and he got caught by a punch and lost his belt. Then in the rematch GSP kicked his ass and regained his belt. Thats how I see this going down.

Yep. In those first few moments of round 1 you could sense the energy of the dominant fighter. Urijah and GSP unleash devastation in a heartbeat. Luck has it's moments in the sun.
"Now wait for the rematch." We really can't!
Bring it Urijah.
Oh god dont get me on this subject again! i feel like punching something...

"The Family" has got to go to the rematch no matter what to show our support. And the after party will be the best damn after party ever thrown. Get your liver doner in order, you'll need a transplant after the party!

No doubt ama, we'll be there. However, I'll be the designated driver because I'm allergic to alcohol. I obviously didn't inherit the Irish/German side of me. It's the Asian part of me. Damn...:(

Hi all...
I'm a relatively new fan to MMA, and I'm a big Urijah Faber fan...watch all his fights and plan on making it to one soon.
I just wanted to add my .02:
I think Urijah played his regular defensive game at the start of the match, trying to lure his opponent into a trap...and it didn't work. Brown is probably the strongest fighter Urijah has faced, plus Brown added about 5 lbs back on after the weigh-in.
They exchanged some strikes, Urijah got a good knee in, then when he went with his back to the cage, he walked into Browns punch...if Urijah made contact with that elbow, we probably wouldn't be having this conversation.
Leonard Garcia is a tough kid, and he says he wants a title fight...I think he should fight Faber next...if Faber wins, he should get a chance to fight for the belt again...if Garcia wins...
And who's next for Mike Brown? He just beat "the champ, the number 1, the best pound-for-pound fighter in the WEC"

Wecome in! Good points. Urijah was surely preparing a quick follow up if his elbow connected. He is just so fast and always thinking ahead. He simply got caught this time by freaky mojo.
As for Leonard Garcia? Strong striker, excellent game. Jens was simply overpowered. No doubt to get a title shot. Just not yet. Urijah is the former belt holder and remains the number one contender. He deserves first crack at Brown.

god i wanna go soo bad only 17 though, so makes it a bit difficult
best damn after party ever......right on Ama.

As with everyone else I was blown away by urijah's loss wednesday night, but as always I will remain a true fan. I actually had to replay the end several times before it would sink in, Brown got very lucky, the punch was not even in motion, Urijah just stepped into it, if his backhand would have landed then who knows. Really looking forward to the rematch.

Well said, Thump! I too am looking forward to a re-match. I am also curious to see what happens with Brown's career now. I don't think it will get as lucrative as Urijah's. I just want to see Urijah fight again, so badly. I think the WEC would be smart to prolong the re-match...although; I am not fond of that idea. I think they realize that Urijah as a huge following that will remain steady, and thereby equating to more viewers for fights. I think they will have this huge build-up by allowing both Brown and Faber to fight other people in order for more attention before their eventual fight occurs. Who knows maybe once Brown is healthy; he may loose the belt in his first fight back against someone other than Urijah. How exciting to think about all the possibilities...but frustrating at the same time.

Thanks bako. It's nice to know we'll have somebody to drive us around.
I can hardly wait to see how everything plays out. At first I just wanted an immediate re-match. But with Brown being hurt and all, now I just want to see Urijah fight again ASAP and kick somebody's sorry ass just for breathing. I'm sure the next person will be sorry they ever stepped in the cage with the Champ. Urijah may look cool, calm, and collected on the outside, but I'm sure he will have some rage to unleash on the next victim.

Then consider us your personal designated drivers -- one for each of you.
Since Urijah injured Brown, this is how is see it going. WEC still has to put on fights and Brown needs to defends Urijah's belt but he will be put on hold. I see Garcia vs. Aldo, then whoever wins that gets a shot at Brown. I believe that will happen within 8 months. Urijah will fight one new WEC fighter, maybe Brookins, then either get one more fight, or strait to whoever is holding Urijah's belt at that time. At that point he will maul the beltholder and have it back.

"whoever is holding Urijah's belt at that time."
I like the way you said that! Kind of like Brown is just holding Urijah's belt for a little while. Like as a get-well present. Then, when he's better, Urijah will politely kick his ass and take it back.
Get well soon Mike! :D

I know reality is he'll have to fight someone else before getting a chance at Mike. Just sucks that we have to wait. And even longer now that Mike is hurt. But I guess I'd rather see him fighting before then. Don't want him being rusty before he gets his belt back.

That is very well put!
I know a rematch any time soon is a bit of a moot point (due to Brown's injury), but Urijah may have something in his contract to that effect (a rematch right away, as opposed to a fight in between)...either way, I'm sure WEC is thinking of the best ways to promote this. Urijah is the face of the WEC...and their best chance to gain some mainstream popularity.
