Watching Urijah banging with Miguel Torres, BJ Penn, Jens II, and Kid Y would be great, without a doubt. For me, punishing Tyson Griffin would be the ultimate. I think that a win against Griffin would completely shut down any critics and further Urijah’s legacy. This fight would be the perfect transition into the UFC setting up a BJ Penn or GSP super-fight that would bring the worldwide recognition Urijah deserves. Given Urijah's popularity, marketing appeal and athletic abilities, it seems like the best course for him to take. I’m sure even Urijah would admit that he can’t “do this” forever. I think any fight he takes now should be about the Cash Money,,,,, Brother (CMB).
Not to mention, a victory against the only guy to show you defeat can't be bad for the voices in your head?

Urijah has already mentioned fights with the above mentioned (considering UFC owns WEC), but he has always maintained he would stay with the WEC because they have been very good to him. I'd hate to see him take fights just for the money. I would hope his love and talent for fighting would help make his choices.
Definite rematch with Griffin is a must!

You are way off, Urijah has said he would never fight Tyson or BJ. They are both too fat for him. Watch Inside MMA some time, he said that a few months ago, after Dream 4 or 5. Miguel Torres would be the most logical and best fight right now. If you read one of my other threads I say the same thing. WEC has no one for him. So, for other people to include him in PFP conversations, he needs to go to the UFC, as much as I hate to say it. I love watching him for free.

As far as being "way off" on the Griffin & Penn fight(s) maybe you should check out Urijah's post (Fight Postponed) on 09-09-08 that features a video interview w/SHERDOG before you start spiting the truth. As far as staying with the WEC because of loyalty or love or whatever.... the minute Urijah's stock drops, for whatever reason (loss, injury, scandal, etc.), Zuffa will quit him. Though it may seem cynical,,,, it's BUSINESS. So unless the WEC is gonna give Urijah a Kidney when he needs one, I say he's gotta get his. The only people you should sweat is family....

The Griffin fight will do HUGH numbers, so I think it will happen. Dana is all about numbers and big paydays !! I dont see him fighting BJ because they are such good friends, but if the money is right, Hell I'd kick my best friends ass for 5 5 min rounds for several hundred thousand dollars. I saw the interview your talking about, but fighters always change their minds down the road. Especially if they are getting a sweet check and can avenge their only loss. It makes since for Urijah to fight Griffin, to complete his legacy !! He walks around at 55 so it is not a big deal for him to fight at that weight. He stays fight ready 365 !!

Unfortunately you're right about Zuffa quitting him if anything happens, but that can be said for any sport (prime example -- Dante Culpepper). So I guess Urijah needs to keep winning, avoid injury, and steer clear of scandals. Regarding the WEC, I'm only basing my opinions from interviews I've watched with Urijah.

Faber is hands down going to be one of the main fighters in MMA. I think he should go to UFC just so he can get more air time so others can see him and become fans. I know the people on here like to be the ones that are fans and like the fact they have been fans for a long time, but lets give other people a chance to see his talent.

Amen Smirnhoff!!!;)
Bottom line... Urijah will fight anyone, it's a sport... Although it might be more brutal than your everyday baseball game... On a VegasTv interview he has said he is willing to fight BJ and he said himself "I'm sure BJ would love to do this fight" and he actually gets a little heated in this interview when the interview quoted Tyson on saying that Urijah is scared of a rematch... In the end, it's a sport and like Faber vs. Pulver, they can have mutual respect beginning, during, and end.

I have seen both fight since and not taking anthing away from Griffin (12-1) Im not sure if he has enough to break the C-Kid. Well see how he does in UFC 90 against Sean Sherk. But with both bein healthy, getting this fight on the block sooner than later makes sense to me. Carlos Condit recently did it in New Mexico. But what do I know maybe the higher powers have all this sh*t worked out....You can look at the current state of our financial markets (AIG) and answer that queston,,,sometimes even the most intelligent dont have a fu*kin clue....
It would be awesome if you could find a link for that interview.
Here ya go...

i really liked the interviewers question about ufc developing featherweight.
i think they should seriously look into that.
i mean, who doesnt like watching 2 135/145 lb dudes going at it.
those are the most energetic, scrappy, intense fights. watch miguel torres, fights like that, where they will kick each other in the head for 20 minutes straight and keep going.
stuff like that would kill in the ufc.

I "mis-remembered" the interview on Inside MMA. I found it on You Tube and he said he would like to fight Griffin again. I thought he said he was too fat. His quote was something like "I would like to fight him again, but he walks around 45 lbs more than I do. I don't think he could cut the weight, so I would have to go up." Sorry peoples. Here is th link if anyone cares:
YouTube - Inside MMA: Faber, Benavidez
here is a snippet from a faber interview a while back
If you continue to defend your title, would you ever consider moving up in weight?
I’d definitely consider it, but I wouldn’t want to move up permanently. I’m already trying to put on weight to [stay a featherweight]. There’s a possibility of me moving down to 135, and there’s a possibility of going up to 155, but probably just for superfights.
