Do they wash down the cages after fights? Sometimes there's an awful lot of blood. After a while the cages would have to turn red if they didn't resurfuce them often....wouldn't they?

Have you seen mats in the cage all red from blood at the beginning of new fight? I know I haven't. I would think for sanitary purposes they don't reuse the mats from previous fights.

I've fought in a few organizations where they use the same mat but they do sanitize it after each fight

But, yeah, I would definitely think everything get's sanitized regardless.

Occassionally where there was an extremely blood fighs I've seen ppl cleaning up.....it was probably in Japan and not UFC or WEC. I will have to look closer now. I didn't realize the whole mat could be replace between fights. I've never been in person to see it.

If a fighter sheds too much blood, he has to pay for the new cage.
I heard Joseph had to pay his entire bonus to replace the cage he bloodied Torres in.

He was also billed an extra $34.65 for the oxy-clean.
