With all of the Different ranking systems out there to Rank fighters in my opinion Urijah is consistently under ranked in the Pound for Pound category !! Here are a few reason I think he should be # 1.

He not only wins fights but DOMINATES his competition !!

His work ethic is beyond comprehension !!

He is the most well rounded fighter out there !! Everyone doubted his hands.......(ask Jens), his muay thai is solid, ( he trains with Master Thong ...have you ever seen that dude throw a kick .....holy Crap Batman the dude is SICK he makes Cung Le look like a punk !! ) he has the most explosive take downs in the business, his wrestling is world class, and he has a great jitz game as well.

His cardio is off the charts !!

He is a innovator and pulls off moves that no one has ever seen in the ring. I have heard Frank Mir on multiple occasions say " I don't know what that was but it was sick " !!

He has a great fan base, and is a CLASS ACT. He is very Humble and gracious to his fans !!

So maybe I am a little bias and these aren't legit reasons to some people for being a great fighter but to me that is how I see it !! You not only have to be a BAD ass in the ring, but a genuine person outside the ring as well !!

I have had the honor of meeting Urijah more then a few times and he is the man, HANDS DOWN. He exudes confidence which is contagious, but does not cross the line as arrogance !! While at the same time maintains a humble, down to earth vibe of reality !!

I am going to watch the destruction of Mike Brown in Florida and hope the WEC can sign Kid Yamamoto ! That would be a sick fight and offer a little more competition for Urijah but would still result in a Faber victory !! I just want all the Faber nay sayers to be silienced once and for all about Norifumi "Kid" Yamamoto would kill faber etc etc !! I will post under the proper topic of "Who is left" and not cloud this tread with unrealted topics of who Urijah should fight !!

Peace

JB

Totally agree with your thoughtful posting JB. Watching Urijah develop his freak of nature strengths and lightening speed into a awesome world-class warrior is amazing. Equally so is his attitude. Urijah is a fearless and driven toward excellence. His humble and very cool attitude toward folks is to be admired. Urijah IS the real deal. Norifumi appears skilllful and explosive. If a match ever materialized between them international interest in MMA would surely SKYROCKET! However, don't think Norifumi could withstand Urijah's shock and awe onslaught.

Enjoy you thoughtful insights JB. Best regards. May Urijah have a quick win over Mike Brown. Peace,

I definitely agree with you. Urijah is one of the greatest fighters I've ever seen. When I was younger I always watched Bruce Lee movies. I've probably seen Fists of Fury 30 times. One of the things I love about both Urijah and Bruce are their fun & confident attitudes outside of their matches. Faber has a huge heart and I see way more respect coming his way as his future develops.

I hope for the best for Brown after his fight with the #1 Pound for Pound fighter in the world. period.

While "Kid Y" would be a great fight, I think that a win against Griffin would completely shut down any critics and further your argument. The 10 pounds may have caused some problems for Urijah early in his career however, with the level of experience he has achieved at the present, I would expect a much different outcome.

As I understand it, both fighters share a common parent company, and given Urijah's popularity, wouldn't it make sense to do a fight while both athletes are healthy and still very competitive? From a financial standpoint, with the Jens fight in the books, properly promoted, Faber vs. Griffin II could be much bigger. Look, I’m sure Urijah has debated this given his financial success outside the cage, but I think any fight he takes now should be about the U.S.C. $$$$

Not to mention, a victory against the only guy to show you defeat can't be bad for the voices in your head? No wat I'm sayin!!!!!!

Agreed 100% !! If promoted correctly Faber vs Griffin II would do BIG numbers !! Hopefully this fight will happen within the next year or so so as you said, both fighters will still be in their prime. Urijah will hand out a beat down this go round !!

Oh man, I can't wait for that match to happen....too bad the Mike Brown fight is post-poned so far in advance. Faber probably would be fighting again in December already if things had gone as planned......."shaking my fist at the weather".:(

I agree. I'd really like to see Faber vs. Griffin II. I think Urijah just made a bad mistake that cost him the fight. Plus I agree that a win against Griffin would surely shut up some critics. Hopefully we might get to see this fight some time next year

In Urijahs Defense in the First Griffin fight, Urijah Clocked his head on the support that holds the cage together, and opened up a nasty cut early in the fight, when he faked the superman punch at the start of the third round he dropped his right hand too low and was wide open for the straight right that dropped him. You learn from your mistakes !!! Urijah has evolved his game such much, he is not even close to being the same fighter. He is on A WHOLE different level that Tyson has yet to achieve.

Urijah has by far the best ground and pound, the man got some scary elbows.

the second he's on top, his opponent better be sweating, cause its 1.2.3 lights out

Agreed Faber is ONE SCARY LIL dude !! He is SOOOOOO well rounded !! He IS the Total package. His ground and Pound is awesome. He can stand and bang, like we saw in the Pulver fight, and has lightning fast hands and kicks. He wrestling is off the charts, and his submissions......forget about it !! He is in my opinion the best pound for pound fighter in the world. FEDOR who ?

I was hoping for a little opposition on why Urijah is not what I claim he is .........but everyone is in agreement. I have many other reasons for my claim that I was saving for a good argument. Guess they are not needed.........Urijah is the MAN !!! I need to forward this to Fight Magazine and MMA weekly so they can change our boys status ........HAHA

Bro, you are one of the main dudes on this board, but you thought there would be opposition? Like they said, this is a Faber board. If they did go against, they would get there ass kicked on this board.

There is nothing wrong with a lil scrapping !!! I just state facts. Alot of times you will get guys on boards who just talk shit and it makes for alot of good argument !!

Another reason to support my claim, even in defeat, Urijah makes no excuses, acknowledges browns win and states he'll be back, which we all know he will !! The sign of a great champion and great human being . Urijah made no excuses, like he hit me in the nuts and stunned me etc, like he could have thanks to the earlier post, he takes his lose in stride although clearly dissapointed, and does not talk shit !! You go bro !! You still da man !! The belt will be yours again soon enough !!

All in all, a true champion is not necessarily a person that holds the belt. Winners and champions are one in the same: they persevere, give their heart, body, and soul everytime they enter the cage, and are gracious in defeat.

Uriajh Faber is all of these things !!
