Thinking about joining UF a few questions

Im a 2nd degree black belt in tae kwon do. i want to join UF to train and just get into shape.

how does it work? does UF take beginners? I have never wrestled or anything like that and i want to learn, is UF the place to do it?

do you just pick and chose the classes you want to take? sorry about all the noob questions, i just wanna get information because i really want to learn from all of the Alpha Male guys at UF. and im moving to sac in a few months anyways, ill be right down the street.

my advice.

just do it. Im sure all levels are welcome, seeing as you have an extensive background of TKD im sure you will hold up fine. Just work your ass off and you will learn some good stuff much like any other gym.

I dont go to UF, but I'm sort of in the same boat as you are. Nate Marquardt has a gym in Denver, I found out from an interview they had on the UFC site. Ive only been into fighting for about 2 years and wasnt sure how I would hold up, or if they would even let me train MMA. (its one of those schedules where classes are divided into ranks...MMA (Black))
and at my gym I was only an orange belt... but it was chinese kenpo and i basically refused to learn forms haha.

as for which classes to take. i dont know the schedule of the gym, but i would recommend taking as many as you can fit. a good way to get noticed and hell... it cant hurt.

i think there is different levels of membership, from just a class or two, up to unlimited & access to all classes

yes, all skill levels are welcome...whether you're a gifted phenom or someone who's never thrown a punch in his life... its a gym where people take classes to get into shape while also learning some good skills...there are plenty of 9-5'ers, housewives, etc at classes, not everyone is there to train to be a cage warrior :)

is UF a good place to learn a ground game? well Matt Sanchez & Chad Mendes have very impressive wrestling pedigrees and i know they both teach sub-grappling classes, i think learning from guys who successfully competed at the top level in college (D-I) is a great opportunity :)

yes, if you have the membership, you just show up to whatever class you want to attend...you dont need to sign up for a class or anything like that, just be there ready to learn & ready to sweat :)

I learned there were people there for the fight who were at the UF gym working out, so it looks like they have arrangments to be there when you're in from out of town and the few I talked with said they were enjoying themselves:)

From the piks I ve seen its predominantly a male environment(not complaining) so As for learning as a woman is there a difference in training?
Do they have instructors that are just for women or is there any difference at all?
