View Full Version : Uriah and UFC

Why won't Uriah fight in the UFC?
My guess is that UFC has better fighters than WEC and he might start losing. Losing would mean losing prestige at his gym and losing sponsors.
He is good, second best in WEC right now but would he be in top five with UFC?

Urijah has already addressed fighting in the UFC. The WEC has been great to him, why would he leave? If you had a great gig, where the talent at 145 is stacked, would you leave? Being a fighter in the UFC doesn't mean your unbeatable. It just means you fight for a different organization.

Also, Fight Magazine has him ranked 7th overall. Pretty damn good. But after June 7th, he'll have his rightful spot back at #1.

this question gets asked alot...i didnt know the UFC has a 145 pound division - do they???

Kimberly

They start at Lightweight. Urijah would have to move up a weight class to compete in the UFC.

UFC= 206+,205,185,170,155 lbs.
WEC= 155, 145,135,125 lbs.

Urijah Faber= 145 lbs.

Plus the UFC and the WEC are both owned by Zuffa and they are going to want the WEC to be as big as the UFC so why would they take there most popular fighter out of something they want to grow.

my guess would be that you're retarded. So let's hope your guess and mine are both wrong Frank! :) Welcome to the site by the way.

Urijah has proved himself to be quite an intelligent business man as well as a great fighter.
I'm certain he will do what's best for his future.
We should all hope to be so successful and happy in life.

That's pretty much what I said. Except for the fact that UFC pays it's fighters more.
As for weight, he could go up with no problem.

I was trying to say that if he would benefit from the UFC, I'm certain he would go there.
Why fix what isn't broken?

you are right.
But, I'll stop being a gentleman and put it in ground and pound terms:
He is taking the wus way out to stay on top. At UFC, he would be just another fighter. Good, but not the best and his stock would plummet.

Mandy

i'd like to see you say that to his face... wuss and urijah don't belong in the same sentence!

Well, that's your opinion and you're entitled to it. Then again, opinions are like assholes, everyone's got one.

Kim

Well, Frank, I knew that's what you meant.
I don't think it's a wise choice to come on Urijah's site and bash him. But you're free to your own opinions.

As for UFC fighters and pay: no one knows how much $ Urijah is making but Urijah himself. I'd trust him to make financial decisions in his best interest.
And as for his ability to make it in the UFC: I'm certain he would do just fine IF that's where he chose to go.

Mandy

frank, considering most of us have been on here for awhile and have bccome tight knit, you are truly treading on thin ice...i wouldn't say it's the smartest thing to come on here and bash the guy... like kim said, way to make an entrance though...

and dang Frank you are making one hell of an entrance and pissing off a great deal of people.

know this first
. UFC has no featherweight division. unless urijah planned on gaining weight and fighting up I dont think its going to happen.
. THAT BEING SAID. didnt urijah wrestle at 130-ish? he seems more comfortable at lower weight, and i dont blame him. he practically OWNS that division.
. He fights because he loves the sport, if you are getting paid for doing what you love, consider yourself lucky, why leave for a couple extra greedy dollars
. Urijah is never ever ever ever ever ever ever everever ever ever ever ever ever everever ever ever ever ever ever everever ever ever ever ever ever everever ever ever ever ever ever everever ever ever ever ever ever everever ever ever ever ever ever everever ever ever ever ever ever everever ever ever ever ever ever everever ever ever ever ever ever everever ever ever ever ever ever everever ever ever ever ever ever everever ever ever ever ever ever everever ever ever ever ever ever everever ever ever ever ever ever everever ever ever ever ever ever everever ever ever ever ever ever ever

a wuss.

never.

3 title belts simultaneously, how many title belts do you have Frank, in fact, how many professional fights have you been in.

nevermind, it doesnt matter, I dont beleive in fairy tales anymore, dont need to hear any from you.

so before you talk to some of Urijahs' biggest fans, realize this, THIS IS A FAN SITE FOR URIJAH. if you arent a FAN. dont come here and BOG the forums with crap questions without a thought process behind it.

Can you show me where Urijah said he is afraid of the UFC? I have never heard him say that. Last time I checked, Urijah said he would fight anyone, anyhwere at anytime. He's a badass. I hope your next actually, sounds like you need an ass whooping. And for all the shit talking you're doing, I hope you're a fighter in some organization. It's so easy to point fingers and say what everyone else should be doing. Get your facts straight Frank. I guess I was right, you are retarded.

Frank, after reading this my family has many things to say. My husband says "your a punk", my brother said "just because your breath smells like ape shit that doesn't mean you Tarzan", the list could go on and on but I am not sure I would like to waste my time on you or your crude remarks, what I am trying to say to you if you want to bash find another place to talk shit, because we are not interested in it.

it's not like oh I don't know Zuffa owns both WEC and UFC or anything now is it. It basically is the UFC lol and as for pay you don't get paid more just because you fight for UFC. You get paid based on how well you draw and urijah is a top draw

Lucky7
05-31-2009, 11:40 AM
Besides the fact that this was a stupid question to begin with, Urijah is the face of the WEC. He is their most popular fighter and their hottest commodity. I doubt Zuffa would want him to go to UFC.

He's also said (as some other featherweights have said), that if anything he would go down in weight for better competition...just think about Urijah vs. Miguel Torres!!! I'd love to see that even as a catchweight/exhibition match.

It might be interesting to get a UFC lightweight's opinion on this...maybe Ken Flo will address it when commentating WEC 41.

Really? Why should Urijah move up a weight class to fight in that other Zuffa-owned organization? Assuming the UFC 155 is loaded up with "better fighters" why not urge THEM to follow Jens example and challenge at WEC 145? Thought so.

I think he craves attention, attention whore is what comes to my mind. if you don't like Faber, first of all something isn't right in your head, and second of all, why the hell do you take the time to register for his site? Frank needs a life, and an ass kicking.

From what I've heard he s still trying to establish himself at 145 which is a good weight for him because he doesn't cut much weight, he also hinted on going up and down a weight-class for some superfights, and no the UFC starts at 155, and yes the WEC is focused on lightweight fighters which is why I rarely watch the UFC because I like watching the smaller guys bang shit up!
