this guy was one of my favorite boxers to watch when i was a kid, he was amazingly fast and he had power in his punches (many guys with his level of speed are notable for the speed but not their power, its usually either-or and rarely is it both) & his boxing skills earned him a gold medal in the '84 Olympics (finishing with a 99-4 record as an amateur) and 2x World Champion in the 140 & 147 pound divisions
i recently came across a video of him from 2002, and i was shocked & saddened at his physical condition. and that was 7 years ago, i can only imagine how much worse he is now...being "punch drunk" is no joke, i can see it now in friends i grew up boxing with & many other guys i know. even with just a long amateur career, it can happen :\
here is a highlight video of taylor in his prime, one of the fastest punchers ever:

The last fight in that highlight video, was when Taylor fought Julio Cesar Chavez, I watched that fight & remember it as possibly one of the greatest boxing matches I've ever seen (and i've seen TONS!)...if you ever have a chance to watch that fight, its definitely worth watching again

Now, here is the video that shocked me. I haven't seen or heard anything of Taylor since the '90's and when I saw this I was floored. Watch his 2002 interview, at the 1:30 mark, and then compare it to the 1990 version of him speaking at the 2:00 mark :(

very sad indeed....
