Here's a few questions with him as well. Enjoy!!!!!

10 Questions With Scott McAfee (by Darrick Patrick)

Scott McAfee is a professional mixed martial artist who has competed in organizations such as World Extreme Cagefighting, Palace Fighting Championship, and Alaska Fighting Championship. At the time of this interview, his next scheduled match is against Bill Theofanopoulos at PFC 13: Validation on May 8th, 2009.

Darrick: What was the path that led you to professional mixed martial arts competition?

Scott: I wrestled for a few years in high school and I was getting ready to start my senior season when my friend told me he was joining a boxing gym. He wanted me to try it out with him, so I decided I'd do it. After a few days, he quit and I was hooked. I did that for the next couple of years and I had twenty boxing matches (with a record of 17-2-1) by the time MMA came to town. It was something new, so I thought that I'd give it a go and I've been doing it ever since.

Darrick: Who is someone that greatly influenced you while growing up?

Scott: My dad was always a good role model for me. He was also a college wrestler, so he understands the competitive drive that I've always had since I was younger.

Darrick: Any words of advice for other individuals looking to train in MMA?

Scott: Be good at everything, but make sure to be great at one aspect of the sport. Whether it's wrestling, boxing, Jiu-Jitsu, or kickboxing - master something. Also, find a team and a coach that believes in you and wants to see you succeed. That is very important. I've made that mistake before, so I know.

Darrick: Your next scheduled match is against Bill Theofanopoulos on May 8th. What are your thoughts about this upcoming fight?

Scott: I know he's a really good Jiu-Jitsu guy who is tall and skinny. Other than that, I don't know much about him. I think he'll try and stand with me. If he does, it's his bad. I don't plan on taking him to the ground, but if it ends up there I'm more than capable of putting him away.

Darrick: Who is someone in the sport that you highly respect?

Scott: Wanderlei Silva because the guy always goes into a match and fights his heart out. Even though he's been on a bad losing streak, he's still my favorite fighter.

Darrick: What brings you the most fulfillment out of martial arts?

Scott: The thrill of victory after spending months in the gym.

Darrick: Outside of MMA, what are your other interests?

Scott: I play the drums and mess around with the guitar as well. I also recently got a Pit Bull puppy, so he takes up a lot of my time.

Darrick: What is your oldest memory?

Scott: Going to the beach and feeding the seagulls a cupcake with my dad and my brother.

Darrick: If you were stuck in a bomb shelter for the rest of your life, what three items would you take in with you?

Scott: A bomb shelter! For the rest of my life?! I'd just take in a cryogenic freezer so that hopefully someone would find me in the future and free me.

Darrick: Tell us something about you that most people don't know.

Scott: I'll be a world champion one day.

I totally missed this in the News section:

"Highly regarded bantamweights Joseph Benavidez and Dominick Cruz have recently signed to face one another at WEC 42.

FiveOuncesOfPain.com was able to confirm the signing of the bout from sources close to the fight.

WEC 42 is expected to take place sometime in August in Las Vegas, although no specific venue for the event has been identified at this time.

The undefeated Urijah Faber protege Benavidez is widely considered to be one of the leading challengers to Miguel Torres‘ bantamweight crown. He has gone undefeated in his ten fight career with his most recent victory coming over Jeff Curran at WEC 40.

Cruz has only suffered one loss in his fourteen fight career and it was to none other that Urijah Faber back in March of 2007. He has put together four consecutive victories since the defeat with his most recent being a decision over Ivan Lopez, also at WEC 40.

Expected to headline the show will be a bantamweight title bout between Miguel Torres and Brian Bowles. The winner of the bout between Benavidez and Cruz will undoubtedly be positioned for the next crack at the strap."

Hmmm...do I sense a Vegas trip this summer??? :D

Lisa

hell yeah you sense a vegas trip this summer!!!!! If I have to sit Sac out, I will be in Vegas!!! :) Thanks for the post Ej, good info in there.

Oh and somehow after seeing Cruz drink wine the way he does, I think joseph has this, no problem. Although that long stemmed wine glass made Dominic look pretty manly and intimidating :)

Joseph's the man! Can't wait for this. Vegas here we come!!!
