Urijah always said he doesn't lift weights, at least not right now anyway. Yet everytime I catch a Faber fight the guy looks jacked..

What type of workouts does Urijah do to build muscle if he doesn't lift weights? I am interested in this because mike Brown also says he does not lift weights and he is jacked up to..What are these guys doing to develop size and strength?

I bet they do lift weights but I wouldnt be surprised if it was way different than you expect. You always see those clips of Urijah slammin the sledge hammer down or flipping huge tires. Also, with the 4-6 hours of BJJ/Boxing/Wrestling/etc... I'm sure the stress put on your muscles is similar to weight lifting. Add cardio and a lot of core workouts and I'm sure you'll get there. I just say its hard for most people to put that much time and effort into workouts... at least it is for me

using your body like the machine it is, in action & compound movements, will develop you stronger than lifting weights

"lifting weights" like many people do at the gyms is mainly to look good, most of it isnt functional strength

some of the most defined & strongest guys i've ever met never lifted weights - it was all body weight exercise that made them

Yes but I would say that squats, one-legged squats, and deadlifts are very functional excecises

^ those would fall underneath the "compound" lifting movements...i meant the little stuff that people do in front of the mirrors :)

Yeah I know what you mean, theres kids at my school that will spend an entire hour doing biceps and triceps and it s just hilarious to see them waste their time like that.

just had to add:
There's a very, very skinny guy at my gym who poses dramatically between every set he does. He actually grunts and breathes heavily during his little performances. People stay away from him as much as possible, though I find it hilariously entertaining.
I thought about trying to film him w/ my phone but decided it was too risky.
Though I may reconsider one day if he shows up in his little blue nut huggers. That would make for an interesting thread to say the least.

"Crossfit!!!" if you havent heard of Crossfit yet check it out. i have been doing it for a little over a year and there are no other workouts like it. It involves so many different workouts and movements that normal weight lifting doesnt involve. It is all around fitness and i advise everyone to get on it. BJ Penn does it, i have seen Urijah use a lot of the workout techniques that we use. Go to Crossfit.com and check out some of the exercises and demos and it will show you a lot. They post daily workouts so its easy to fillow. And it takes half the time to do than weight lifting with better results. There are Crossfit gyms everywhere in America, or if you do it in a gym people will look at you crazy, its pretty funny because everything is done for time and max reps so you are beat to nothing by the end, even if it is only a 5 minute workout. Just wanted to let you guys know.

HE does do some lifting, I read in a magazine that 90% of his workouts are plyometrics(sp?) and sparring. You dont have to life to get big, as long as you're challenging your body and pushing your intensity then you'll see results. Alot of weight lifting IS for vanity's sake, i.e. body builders(ahahahaha). But, for people who are actually focused on getting stronger and improving themselves will eventually lift weights... It's about balance though, you can't get to the top of your game without SOME strength training

Im surprised really that he gets that big with no weights.

Oh mah gah I hate that! In every gym there is at least one grunter. Often times its the littlest dude in the gym, but even the seasoned big guys are guilty of this. You should just smile or make it look like it's easy. Not like your weight lifting ceremony right now is the epic meaning to your life. There was also a guy who would grunt longass grunts like he was singing bad opera.

Big guy, little guy, whatever, there are a lot of us going 100% and doing our maximum weight, but you don't have to grunt like that. Sounds like crying/ whining in a way doesnt it?

Cohabitation has become so common, the media should bear some responsibility. Because too many of today's film and television works exaggerated phenomenon of divorce, domestic violence and feelings of betrayal, but the lack of a WOW GOLD (http://WWW.UGAMEGOLD.COM) description of the life together, this will make more young people fear marriage, to choose cohabitation.
