I 'm curious why they chose a main event like this for Paulo Thiago to make his UFC debut, and why against a veteran like Koscheck? Or the question could be reversed: why are they making Koscheck fight a relative newcomer?

I thought they jumped in too quick as well. I DID see the whites of his eyes on the re-play though.
I guess if I got served that hard I may think differently.
But I still thought it was soon.

I guess they obviously knew something we didnt because Thiago looked like the veteran in that fight. And I agree the ref did stop the fight to early, I think he shoulde waited 2 more seconds.

I'm always wishy-washy on Koscheck...ultimately I think he's a punk (and I don't think he'd have a problem with people saying that), but he can win me over with a good fight and a victory (as he did with his win over Yoshida).

Alot of the chatter regarding the quick stoppage has to do with the fact that it was on Spike, regular cable.
I'm often torn when I watch a KO, and the ref either takes too long, or ends it too quickly...each case is different.

Kos was clearly KO'd, if only for a couple of seconds. But physically speaking, the damage is done. It's a matter of the ref protecting the downed fighter. Should Thiago have pounced and ponded a little? Probably. But I also kinda like the fact that he didn't.

I realized after I typed all this and read it, I've really added nothing to the discussion but my own back and forth of opinions...lol

Did Thiago look like a veteran? I don't think so...he clearly didn't look like a rookie or beginner...but I guess looks can be decieving when you can land an uppercut like that!

I agree with you Lucky. Thiago, had just a few decent leg kicks and a uppercut... and that was it. I wouldnt say he is a rookie at all.

This fight kind of reminded me of Faber vs Brown. I expected a decent fight but no way did I ever think either would lose
