New Blood coming to the WEC

12-1 with his only loss to Jeff Curran, 2 years ago, split decision. His last fight was a 12 second KO!

I know we're all here for the same reason, Urijah Faber, but this kid could be trouble.


Featherweight Rafael Assuncao (12-1) has been granted his release from the American Fight League and is now seeking an April return to action.
Considered by many MMA analysts to be among the world's top-10 145-pounders, Assuncao today told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) that the WEC and soon-to-debut Bellator Fighting Championships are the top contenders for his services.
"With Bellator I get a chance to quickly get three fights under my belt -- and possibly a lot of money in those three fights -- which is very appealing," Assuncao said. "On the other hand, the WEC has treated me very well. I've got a little bit of a relationship with the matchmakers there. And it's a Zuffa, LLC, company, so there's security there."
Assuncao is currently riding a four-fight winning streak and has earned submission wins over the UFC's Joe Lauzon as well as Bellator Fighting Championships' Jorge Masvidal

1. Urijah beat Jeff Curran, by submission(guillotine), not decision. Split him open with elbows too. He didnt just beat Curran, he beat him at his own game. Jeff Curran is a black belt in jiu jitsu, and this Assuncao guy, is NOT.

2. Most of this guys wins are by submissions. NOBODY can handle Urijah when he goes into attack mode, NOBODY.

3. Look at the guys hes fought, most of them have losing records.

Of course now anybody can be caught, but I am not too concerned.

Great points...some of the words are use to describe Urijah's fighting style are "dynamic" and "unpredictable". You just can't prepare for him, because you have no idea what he's going to do.

idk why, but i have a feelin the dude will put up a good show. i'd like to see another war, they are the best to watch. especially stand up wars.
