I really am surprised at this one, I don't see how he is a top contender over Jose Aldo... He really wasn't that impressive at his last WEC fight either.

Wagney was the IFL's champion at 145. I honestly believe that Aldo would get a shot before Urijah gets a rematch. It was rumored before that Aldo was going to fight Urijah then quickly it turned into him fighting Pulver again. Now they are setting up Aldo on the same card as Brown. Recent history shows they do that.

Pulver was on the undercard the same show Urijah beat I believe Curran.

Mike Brown was on the undercard when Urijah beat Pulver

Leonard Garcia was on the undercard when Mike Brown beat Urijah.

So maybe they will hold off going to Sac until later in the summer? I know I went by those results and am probably wrong. There are less weight classes(WC) now which means a bunch of fighters in the same WC on the same cards. So the history may mean nothing now but just throwing that out there lol. Also you just know this:

Benavidez is on the undercard of the Torres/Bowles fight and we know if he wins he gets the winner.

If it is true, Faber will have no problems with Fabiano. He'll annihilate him like he did Pulver.

ATT, there's always something to be said about patterns, so you may have a point. The WEC can't deny Urijah deserves a rematch. I don't care who's next in line. Urijah was the champ and successfully defended that title for what, 3 years?! Plus, they know they would would make way more money having Urijah fight the winner of the Brown/Garcia fight and money is what makes this world go around (unfortunately). I guess only time will tell what they really have planned. It's the waiting that sucks!

Without a doubt Urijah's next fight should be for the title, he deserves it! But even if they dont give it to him its all good, he'll just use whoever else hes fighting as target practice for the title!

FiveOuncesOfPain.com was contacted earlier this evening by a source close to Urijah Faber that was speaking on the condition of anonymity regarding a previous report by Tatame.com that quoted Wagnney Fabiano as saying his next fight possibly could be against Faber.

Fabiano indicated that he his next fight will be at on Sunday, April 5 at WEC 40 in Chicago and that Faber has been discussed as a potential opponent. According to the source, Faber will not be competing during the month of April.

After losing the WEC featherweight to Mike Brown at WEC 36 in November, Faber rebounded with a first round submission against Jens Pulver last month at WEC 38. It’s still unclear when his next fight will be but sources have revealed to FiveOuncesOfPain.com that WEC officials are considering a possible June date at the Arco Arena in Faber’s hometown of Sacramento, Calif. and that he’d be a logical fit to headline the card.

The potential show has yet to be finalized and in the event that it is, Faber’s involvement would still not be a guarantee. As of now, he currently has just two fights remaining on his WEC contract and it is believed that he’s looking to re-negotiate his current deal before challenging for the WEC featherweight title again. If Faber won the title he would essentially be forgoing his ability to hit the open market as he would be subject to the terms of the promotion’s champion clause.

I don't think anyone saw this coming

Wow, defiinitely not. Some of you may remember, I was (and still am) a fan of Wagnney, but he in no way deserves a WEC title shot, or even a match against the #1 contender....

I see this rumor has now ben shot down...

I really think there's no question that Urijah should fight the winner of Brown/Garcia...as much as we'd like to se him fight Mike Brown again, for redemption...but I really woudn't mind seeing Leonard Garcia nd Urijah go at it.

Talking to a friend of Urijah, they said he was looking at 3 more fights this year so one more before he gets a title shot. He thinks his title shot will come around Sept. and if you look at it I think that may be about right. How long do fighters often get between fights?
