NOW THAT I GOT YOUR ATTENTION!!!!!CONSIDER THIS..........

De La Hoya vs. Mawweather Jr.

Oscar De La Hoya ended up earning $58 million for the bout, the highest purse ever for a fighter. Floyd Mayweather Jr., earned about $25 million for the fight. The previous record was $35 million, held by Tyson and Holyfield. And these figures don't include Sponsorship/Endorsements.

MMA champions like Urijah go thru the same rigors of training and preparation while assuming a much higher risk for suffering serious injury. In the future, I can only hope that MMA fighter’s close-up this disparity and get theirs.......MMA FIGHTERS ARE GETTING ROBBED!

Well first I have to say that I was a little put off by the title of this thread. But you did get me to read it, so kudos's to you.

This point has been brought up before, but I think that it is something that needs to be addressed. You are right. I do not have the answer on how it can be fixed, but I do agree that there needs to be a change. MMA is a major sport and it needs to be treated as so,

the risk of injury is much greater in mma. I can take a hit with standard boxing gloves. over and over and over and over, but those grappling gloves hurt like hell once they connect clean. So why are boxers makin the big bucks?

Sorry about the uncontrolled hurling (JBNTX) but after reading another thread it became apparent that the majority of MMA fighters, including Urijah, are getting ripped off. Conventional boxing has lost it's appeal since the intro of MMA to the general public. If not for De La Hoya staying in the game, Golden Boy Promotions wouldn't have any real bankable fighters to promote. Solution: Golden Boy Promotions needs to represent MMA fighters and challenge Dana and the boys for control of the universe.

Golden boy is now conected to affliction and their fighters the money is not there from the pay per views as of yet but it is getting there, Now don;t foget boxing didn't get to where it was over night, MMA is a baby still let it mature and gain more main stream noterity(sp). It will come around boxing will always be there but now there is a real alternative!!

Great comments Striker and Fozzy, I agree boxing will always be around but MMA will be far more of a draw then boxing. Fighters are the reason people watch fights NOT promoters, I truely believe fighters will get what they deserve in the future. I just takes time as Fozzy said. Hell if I could do what I love for a living and keep food on the table for my family, I would consider myself RICH !!! That is happiness in itself, doing what you love and making a living at it !!!
