I don't know if you read the thread in the Off Topic section, but a bunch of us are participating in a Body Challenge, although I've have fallen off the wagon several times. :( What advice would you give to staying focused and on track? I have a very busy schedule and sometimes make the wrong food choices because I need something quick and easy. Usually, my bad choices are made in the evening.

Thanks!

Yea ive noticed the body transformation thing, but haven't read the post, i will check it out. The hardest thing is to be self motivated. With fighting and same with just fitness. I believe in a few key things, what gets measure gets done and that is if you keep track of your progress and physically write things down it will get done, if you write down your goals every night and your progress towards them, it gets done. All of my clients keep food logs, and i know what they eat everyday, i know everything they have done between the time we last met. You have to be your own personal trainer and be strict. Thats my best advice for sticking to a routine. Also, dont let anything get boring, learn new workouts and find a reason to want to go to the gym, even if its new gym shoes or a new ipod mix. alll that helps.

Ok I have one for you-

I am about 127 lbs, 5'7 now. In high school I played every sport imaginable and stayed in really good shape. My metabolism was faster than a rabbit and I could eat anything and everything and look great. Now my metabolism has slowed down a little bit and I cant eat a lot of junk food for an extended period of time or I will notice my jeans are a little tighter. I also feel like if I eat only good healthy foods I lose muscle mass and fat at the same time, not just fat. I dont feel like I have a lot of fat to lose, but I would like to be a tiny bit trimmer but without losing muscle mass. Any ideas on speeding my metabolism a little bit and trimming without the muscle loss?

Great Question! Glad this one came up. The reason when you were more active your metabolism was probably better is that you were working out and doing sports. This was keeping lean muscle on you and its very important to know that muscle is metabolic tissue. So when you have more muscle the higher your metabolism. And you are able to eat pretty much whatever and feel the same without weight gain. If you are moving less now you may be losing some muscle and this will cause your metabolism to slow down and start storing more fat based on your diet. I would need to know more about your activity levels and what exactly your eating to pin point the cause but this is the general idea. Now this is what i suggest...

Eating healthy will not cause muscle loss, so we need to figure out what your concept of healthy is. Your goal is going to be to add muscle mass and keep it, so you can feel like you did when you were able to eat anything. So you need to be doing some sort of weight training or something with resistance. As far as eating healthy, that means you are eating Carbs, Fats, Proteins with every meal. And for most people they need to increase the amount of protein and fat in their diets. This is what helps to keep muscle on your body. People tend to eat alot of carbs, which will cause fat storage. So it has aloooooot to do with you diet. email me a food log at mpelitefit@gmail.com everything you eat and i can better help you. But for now try and make sure half your plate has a good carb and the other half has protein and fat. For every meal, snacks cant just be fruit or bread, thats 100 carbs, add some nuts or etc. (protein) This will greatly change the way you look and feel. hope this helps!

I'm about to start a program (Lean in 13) by a company called Advocare. Have you heard of them? If you have what are your thoughts? Anyway, thanking you in advance for your input.

How about a protein supplement?
I used to take Myoplex lite and was able to drop to 14%BF. But I've stopped taking it and am back up to 19% now.
Any suggestions on something good?

Sup Im Andrew and Im from Illinois,
Thanks for posting this thread I been waiting to talk to someone who has the expierience and knows what hey are talking about. I graduated from highschool 2 years ago weighing at 165lbs. Since graduation I have been lifting hard eating right and living a healthy lifestyle. As of this morning I weighed in at 193lbs(a good 193) but I have been stuck at 190-193lbs the last 4 months. I dont know if Ive hit a wall if Im not eating enough or taking enough protien or a combination of both but it is getting very frustrating. My ultimate goal is to reach 210lbs then cut up. I am taking in around 5,000 calories a day and taking supplements before and after workouts but I am stuck. Thanks for readin

Hi Mikey, im new to this site and i was really happy to see something like this!

Right now I'm 5'3" and 122lbs.(11%BF), pretty small... It takes me a good bit to put on weight, it seems that my strength gains to muscle gains ratio is whack! I believe I'm eating properly; 6 smaller meals a day, always keeping protein in my body and drinking a carb/protein shake during & after every workout. I workout at least 3 times a week, too. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!
