I feel that from a business standpoint this is a really bad move. The reason I say this is because, it puts WAY TO MUCH pressure on your TOP DOG WEC fighters like Urijah, Torres, Varner, Condit, Razor Rob, Pulver, etc (THE GUYS WHO PUT ASSES IN THE SEATS) to fight MORE often.
From a FAN's stand point it is GREAT. We will get to see more big name fighters on every card. Thus making it harder on the fighters who will have to fight more often then they normally would.
I feel that over the long haul this will hurt the organization at the corp. Because Who wants to pay for a flight and hotel for a fight that does not have some top name fighters on the card. NOT ME..........no disrepect to any of the fighters who fight in the WEC !! Because to make it to this level of competition you have to be a stud. That said ONLY BIG NAME fighters who have been marketed well and have commercial value SELL tickets. PERIOD !!
I am noit flying across the states to watch Charlie Valencia fight Dominic Cruz as an example.( That was a good fight BTW) I love both these guys they just Dont have the STAR appeal needed to fill an arena.
So.....I am not sure what to think of this whole deal. Do the current WEC champs get folded into the UFC and get a shot at the Current UFC champs? How is that all gonna play out. I would Love to see Paulo fight Anderson that would be a decent fight for about half a round !! Steve Cantwell vs Forrest would be another disaster waiting to happen. So where do the current WEC champs with no homes go ........??????
I have mixed feelings about this whole ordeal, but for the most part hate to see the organization lose alot of good fighters. Even though we are only talking about 18 guys, I will miss seeing Chael Sonnen, Paulo Filho, Tim McKenzie, Doug Marshall, Brian Stann, and Mark Munoz, fight in the WEC !!
