Looks like we are going to see Faber v. Pulver again - personally I want to see it - it was a great fight - both coming off a loss

Makes sense - here is a video from Aldo saying he wants to fight Garcia - and trying to pub that fight

Yep - here comes my 3rd post on this topic
While I want to see the fight - I don't understand it. Although Urijah didn't KO Pulver - it was a convincing win and it was only 2 fights ago. Pulver lost 2 fights in a row and it hasn't been close. I really think there are some better fights out there for Urijah.
Not that I think Jens has not chance against Urijah (everyone has a punchers chance) but I think Aldo or Garcia offer better competition. It seems like the WEC is trying to bring 2 names together and thats it.

Damn when is this suppose to go down I will be there for Jens Urijah 2........
This is all about Money for the WEC. THey will pack the house again FO SHO, the first fight was a sellout in ARCO, which at first they did not even release the upper level seating for sale, because the WEC had never drew such a crowd. SHould be a good payday for both fighters as well !! I am stoaked NOW !!!

You have to remember who's driving the bus !! Zuffa and they are ALL about BIG paydays, which I can't blame them at all !! This will be a HUGH fight I was looking for it to go down way down the road if Jens was to make a comeback. I agree I would like to see that smart ass Garcia get some !!! Aldo is a good fight as well !! Joe Silva does what he does to make the Ferttitas happy !!

MMAWeekly is usually a reliable source - especially when it comes to information about fighters represented by Urijah's management team. When they say "according to sources close to the fight" - well, they have good sources

I actually really really like Jens Pulver. Watching his last fight killed me. I don't know how I feel about a rematch. It would pull in ratings, but I do agree Garcia would be a better fight overall.

I too really like Jens, I have followed his career for many many years !! I saw him fight at UFC 22 in Lake Charles which is only about 45 mins from me !!
4 sites say aldo as of today and 1 pulver so I don't know what to believe. What good would it be for Pulver to fight him then it would be 3 loses in a row and basically know where for him to go then.

that's awesome! Lucky you. Yeah, honestly I'll probably get killed for saying this on here...during Faber vs Pulver, my heart was totally with Jens. Although my money was on Urijah ;-)

I'm interested in finding out who it's gonna be, I talked to Faber 2 nights ago & he didn't mention who he'd be fighting so that must mean there wasn't a definitive opponent as of that time. I'll be in contact with Clark Kent & when he let's me know I'll share it here - but these news sites might beat me to it, LOL :p

Amen.
Couldn't agree more Sac. Jens barely survived Urijah . He was overpowered by Leonard last outing. Jens has heart but is not the Jens of old. While I'm not excited about it, wouldn't miss it for the world.
REMATCH BROWNIE!

Remember, I am still learning this stuff. Is Jens really still on top of the game? I was under the impression that he may have lost some of his ability. Is it not retirement time? Does he not have a lot of injuries? BE NICE…I want to learn!

I don't know why that didn't work...what I meant to say..
Jens is 21-11-1 (WLD). He started in the UFC late 90s so he's been around from the earlier days. After like 4 or 5 fights he was the 1st UFC lightweight champion. He is now in his 30s, not too much older than Faber. He's had ups and downs but now he's coming off two consecutive losses (which happened before) which is why people are saying maybe he should retire. But honestly the first loss was against Faber, where he totally held on and took the champ to the 5th round for the first time. This last loss against Garcia was just awful, in the first round. He did seem off his game.
His career hasn't been exactly consistant...I don't think he should be written off after these 2 losses, even though they were big fights.
I just think Pulver is one of the best and if he does retire, I want to see him go out on top.

D- Thanks! That is great info! I agree Jens rocked at Arco. I was impressed! That guy has to have a hard head. He is tough. His record shows he is still a fighter.
Thanks again for the 411!
Yeah Jens rocks, I really didn't think much about him before the faber match, but he is one strong mo fo to stand with faber like he did. Props to Jens for sure, he is one of my top favs now!

Jens is 4-1 in his last 5 fights and the last time he won a fight against someone the casual fan would know was in 2002 against B.J. Penn (that doesn't mean he hasn't beat anyone good - just not a big name win). When he dropped down to this weight class people expected him to make a bit of a comeback but it really didn't happen. I hope he still has another run in him because I really do think he is a class-act and I like watching his fights but for him to have another run - I don't think it is a good idea to put him in the ring with Urijah
and not that he is hurting for money but he was big in this business when the fighters just were not getting paid very much - so a couple more good paydays wouldn't hurt either.

I don't think Pulver will be lucky enough to last as long as he did in his first fight with Urijah. I gotta feeling this one will end quick.

You meant 1-4 Sac.
Leonard Garcia dominated Jens (L-1)
Jens barely survived Urijah (L-5)
Jens submits Cub Swanson (W-1)
BJ Penn submits Jens (L-2)
Joe Lauzon KO's Jens (L-1)
Always dangerous and exciting to watch, Jens is a huge part of MMA, but seems in steady decline since his KO of Cole Escovedo back in April '06. Agree with you Sac. Jens vs. Urijah 2 might be a very ugly ending to his career.

I completely agree with that... Urijah is hungry, I think the respect Urijah has towards Jens is going to definitely be put to side during this fight (not that it wasn't in the first fight) I just see this being a lot dirtier... We're going to see a Urijah thats never been see before and I can't wait.

Right on Seth. We'll see Urijah TOTALLY unleashed. Pity anyone who stand between him and the belt.
im gonna be honest i dont see jens putting up the same fight we saw in (june?)
His last fight looked rough, he could take the punches like he did in that 5 rounder. Once again, Urijah's energy and drive will take Jens out of the game

I think it's BULLSHIT!
Urijah needed to fight someone on a winning streak to build the hype!
Bad Marketing Or Good Psychology?
What about Garcia and the winner got Brown?
This is supposed to be the WEC's premier division. I'm a big fan of Jens but I’m not too excited to see this fight. Look, I know it’s hard for any fighter (even our boy) to come off a loss and go balls-to-the-wall against a tuff opponent. But if were going to believe it was just a fluke against Brown, wouldn’t a win against Garcia make more sense?

Not only that but Pulver losing again where does he go from there? He can't be built back up. If by some fluke Faber gets beat then he lost to a guy that is 1-4 in his last 5 fights. Lose-lose situation if you ask me.

Clark Kent says its a done deal.
Yeah I saw that. I can't wait. I am just pumped to see Faber fight again. Like Striker said, not too excited it's Jens again, but who am I? It's on!
Was there talk of this going on PPV or no?

:eek:Ok, this is so odd to me... Why would they schedule faber vs jens?!?! It is clearly money driven, but how much money can you pull outta this. I LOVE jens but his name and the hype surrounding this fight is NO WHERE near what a garcia match with faber would bring in!!! I mean eveytime a mike is in front of leonard he says "I deserve a title shot i deserve a title shot," he def doesn't deserve it more than faber!!! So i just assumed that these two would fight next DESPITE all the aldo talk! I am a lil let down. I will def be pumped come fight day but striker is right, this is a LOSE LOSE situation. Wow...
they do this crap all the time. 2 amazing fighters, coming off a loss, fight each other
i just dont see why they do faber pulver 2 so soon

I'm always excited to see Urijah fight, doesn't matter with who. However, I still think he deserved an automatic rematch. His record before his loss to Mike spoke for itself. But for all those who are discounting Jens because he's been less than successful in the WEC, better be prepared. I think for Jens, this is a must win fight for him and he's going to give Urijah everything he's got.

that's what makes me so nervous. Think about it, pulver losing 3 times in a row? And i like pulver too, ever since his first match with urijah, i have gained so much respect for him. I know i am going to be on the edge of my seat for this match!!

Much at stake here for both fighters.
A very hungry Urijah retires Jens with a total beatdown in his quest for the belt. Or, 'Lil Evil' catches Urijah, giving CPR to his career. A loss to Jens would probably set back Urijah's title hopes one more fight.

Like rattlebone said there's alot at stake urijah could either be back onto the championshiop trail or if Jens wins it will give him at least 1 or 2 more fights that he can have that actually mean something
