Just wondering if anyone here trains in any form of martial arts or MMA. If so, what do you train in and why? If you train MMA are you training to eventually fight professionally (or amature)? I know that a couple of the women here are bodybuilders, which is freaking awesome, but just wanted to see what everyone else did.
For those who do train, what's your favorite part of training, move, or technique?
i do a lil bit of a lot
so my gym does
Chinese Kenpo
Chinese Kuntao
Boxing/Kickboxing
Indonesian Silat
Thai Boxing
and Jiu Jitsu love grappling, gotta work on my standing game though
and i start wrestling in a month

I roll Jitz at a Gracie Black Belt gym three times a week. The dudes name is Pat Hardy who owns the gym and he has SICK submissions !! I have learned ALOT in two years !! I roll just to stay in shape, as I am 39 and holding fast. I fought in three muay thai matches while in the marine corp and in thailand which is where my passion for fighting began. That seems like a lifetime ago. I still kickbox twice a week for the cardio and to stay limber. I have to say Jitz has become my passion though. THere is SOOOOO much to learn and so many variations of every submission it will make you dizzy just trying to keep them all straight.

I really want to try some form of MMA, but don't know where to start...I have been thinking about boxing maybe.....
Even just to learn proper form and technique.
I don't have a clue...Haha!!!:o
I was in Yoshukai karate for all my childhood.... my favorite thing about it was when we had our self defense classes, it was a lot of ground stuff. For the most part it's stand up.

just go for it. Find a good place for grappling and boxing. Just learn to work your standing game and ground game. From there you can learn different styles and improve from that

I would love to take jiu jitsu but the last time I did it my knee was inflamed for about a week. It already hurts after taekwondo classes and I had to make a choice between the two and I love taekwondo too much to quit. Especially after all the time I’ve put into it. Plus, it's a part of my heritage. If I could figure out to take jiu jitsu and not have my knee hurt I would be doing both in heart beat!

I did wrestling for a year but I doubt I'll continue it when the season starts this year. It's not that I don't like it, but last year it interfered with my plans of doing MMA. So while I've got a decent start in wrestling, my main martial arts that I train right now is Muay Thai. I've been doing it for about a year, and with the free time I'll have this winter I plan on throwing some Jui Jitsu into the mix
